eotc days

 Hi guys last week we went out of school and didour eotc days. Places we went 

adrenalin forest/ spencer park 

are first inspirations was to go in a circle and to listen to the instructor in frond of us he showed us how to put the harness on and off but like me i'm mostly likely to forget. I would of had said my favorite one was christchurch city but I didn't go there because I was sick. out of all of these I only had to go to adrenalin forest because of my sickness. Adrenalin forest was fun but I was scared of heights but I wasn't the only one who was a other girl was too I didn't get her name but she was nice even a teacher helped us get us over the fear of heights. I also had one of my friends help me from other class she helped me how to get off and on the rope with the harnesses Kira minas. I did level one then I tried to do level 2 but I got to sacred if i get in the way of someone or they would have to wait for me to go up so I let my friend go without me so I keeped doing level 1 so I could get the handle of it. at first level I thought I would full but I had a teacher that cheered me on as I did it so that's when I courage to do level 2 but the day was over and we had to eat are lunch. after we went to spencer park they had flying foxes and a little beach ball area to play in I mostly went on the flying foxes and the swings we also got to choose if you wanted to go to the beach. My friends wanted to go so I went too and we had a little walk and when we got there we got to build sandcastles but we couldn't go in the water. after we went back but I didn't know we had to leave earlier even my parents didn't know. (Sorry)

Playing To Win author by FLEUR BEALE

the last few weeks we have been doing book reviews on the book we have chosen from are teacher. The book I have chosen is called Playing To Win it's a book based on rugby well latter on the story. The reason why I choose this book was because the front cover looked interesting and it had drama at the back of the book. How I thought of it was that the book was pretty short but really nice to read and how it had inspiring words. But my favorite part was when todd knocked denny's lunch out of his hands onto the sand and said 

''sandy sandwiches''. Playing To Win characters: Denny, Todd, Alice, Sally, Clara, Zak, Coach, Pete, Kyle, Jake, Mrs Salter, Lucy, Rose, Mr Hargrove, George, Tamati, Andy, Alish. I think it's best that adults read this book or teens because it had lots of club drinking and bad words in it.   

Gymnastics - PE

Today in PE we have been learning new gymnastics tricks to get more energy and to get more flexible.  Find below are various moves on each apparatus.

Trampoline - front flip, back flip.

beam - walking backwards, hop, leap, frog jumps.

parallel bars - walk on hands forwards and backwards, leg lifts.

bar - roll of the bar, tuck legs through roll.

floor/mat - cartwheel, handstand, log roll forward roll, backwards roll.

mini trampoline - flip, tuck jump. 

Something new that I have learnt this term is having a balance focus will help you to have a balance mind and successful result.

 It all started at this exact place they told me as if it was a ‘‘magic bubble’’ I never really believed in fairy tail stories so I went to go see for myself but my friends tried to stop me because it was dangerous like how is a bubble dangerous? It could lead you into another word. Freeze fame

Today we have been trying out freeze frames for the past few weeks/days and some techniques skills I have learned like having special relationships with people we have not meet before you could make a new friendship with them and maybe you could get along by helping them find a group to act with or you could let them into your group so they don't feel lonely or left out. Like getting to know each other in the act it is also about cooperation and participating like joining in and having a go just have fun acting and then freeze in a pose that you and your group would agree on. and that different poses give emotions of how the person is feeling or acting

 Foot sized adult footprints still freshly there right in front of my door in snow I wondered why they were still fresh like if the person was still here hiding so I followed the foot trail it leaded me to a pouch of snow in the middle of the road I was confused so I cleared the snow out of the way. It was a sewer!. I saw a car coming my way so I opened the sewer and jumped in. ‘’Bad idea’’ the car shut me silled in. I looked around and found missing people that followed the footprints.

 Week 5 Questions:

1. Denny has lots of responsibilities in his life; he helps his Mum with finances, has a job, he takes care of his sisters and is part of a team. Do you think these are reasonable responsibilities for a sixteen year old? Why or why not? I think yes because it is respectful and it shows that he loves him family.

2. What responsibilities do you have in your life? How do you manage them and make sure you are completing everything you are trusted to do? Think about what you do at school and at home or in your spare time.  I mostly feed the cat and I make my bed before I go to school. These tasks are good for someone my age.
   
   

3. Denny feels pressured to drink at the party, but he still says no. Why do you think the boys were pressuring him? Why do you think it is important to stand up for your beliefs? What values do you think he was showing by saying no to underaged drinking? He didn't want to drink because he didn't trust it. They were pressuring him and making fun of him for not drinking it. Todd was making fun of him. He knew he didn't want it because it's bad for you.

 The sound as if she’s playing my old balle music box gets Louder every time you listen to it. It's like it's lorrying you down to a peaceful place like you can’t return back to reality. It drags you down and down till you go to sleep. It's like it pulls you further down till you can’t move again. Or till there's nothing left but the music playing a duet again and again that you can’t stop playing it around. You wait for it to stop but you can’t help the music that it gets stuck in your head and that you can’t get it out. Then a bird's feather falls on top of the music box as if it ended with a single feather.

Hi guys this week in reading we have been reading chapter five of our novel playing to win we had to make a question on what happened  in chapter five. one thing that happened in chapter five was that we found out about Alice's brother that died in a crash after his rugby party. This explains why alice does not take alice does not take denney's accident well and why she does not like rugby. my question for what happened in chapter five is What do you think caused the crash to happened?.

Playing To Win week 1

For the past few weeks/days, Bhs class has been given different books from the teachers to pick. I picked playing to win because it sounded interesting and it was the last book left in the box. Today the teacher has choose us some questions to answer. So here are some of my answers to her questions from the book.

Blackout Poetry Blog

 Today, are class has been working on Blackout poetry. Its when you get this piece of newspaper and circle words you like. But you don't do random words you have to make it into a poetry. After we did are poetry we had to cut it out. Then we had to color all the words we didn't like in markers so it doesn't show so you can read your poetry you made then we had to glue it onto a colorful piece of paper then put are names on it so we know who is whose. I will show you how my one turned out  and what my words say in it if you can't see it.

I have just nordic it was upside down so I will read to you what they say the first one at the top says. But just saying it might not make sentence. But here '' before moving corona virus has spread more meaning more people getting hurt''

PE

 1. Those people without PE gear will not participate and receive a consequence.

2. before coming into gym you must line up as a class outside the door. 

3. Once you are changed into your PE gear you must come and sit down as a class in a place you were asked by the teacher.

4. all gear must be left alone until the teacher has instructed you to use it.

At the past 3 weeks are class has been paired up with different people from different class. We did this because we've been working on selling things so that we can get more people to buy are things and to get to know are teammates from different class/year level better. My group has chosen to do fruit kebabs & a fruit drink called otai ( oh, thigh ) from Tonga. We have chose these things because we were going to let the customer pick what they want on there fruit kebabs and for the drink we wanted to try something new to see if anyone would buy it. For are fruit kababs we have-d got marshmallows, strawberries, grapes, oranges. Even chocolate to go on top of them if you want. For are otai (oh, thigh) we will make it lcy on a hot day if you feel to warm.

 In art class for the past 1 week are class has been working on  perspective art about a bridge, some trees, & bushes. After we had made are things in are pictures we glued them on a piece of paper and named them. Today we are making a story based on are picture that we made so here goes my story based on my art picture. 

One dark day in the open blue there was a girl that come out of white smoke/the fog. She was driving her gray car on a big brown bridge but she saw the pink blossom trees in the night stars she wanted to take a picture under it as soon as she was going to stop her car on the green grass she was all out of fuel so she stopped at the middle of the bridge were there were cars coming. She didn't know what to do she thought of a idea but she thought it was weird but she did it anyway she got out of her car and pushed it on top of the grass were the bushes were pushing it back so she had to do the side of the bridge the people stopped and saw she was out of fuel so they desired to help her. After that someone handed her a ride and bloped the Chain onto her car. she even gotten to take a picture under the tree. :D

solar oven

Kia Ora! Last week we made a science task known as solar ovens. We worked in groups and the purpose was to learn about using solar energy in different ways.  

Firstly we got pieces of cardboards, we put foil inside, then we put sticks through the box. Next we went outside and get chocolate cookies and marshmallows from the teachers, then we put them under the sun to melt into a smore with a magnifying glass to get the sun's heat. But my one didn't turn out as I thought it would, because there was too much wind coming from out of nowhere.

Recipe to make Pancakes :)

Today I am going to share to you how to make pancakes at home. Here are the ingredients you need.  

Ingredients

• 2 cups self raising flour
• Pinch salt
• ¼ cup sugar
• Zest of 1 lemon
• 2 eggs
• ¼ tsp vanilla essence
• 2 cups of milk
• Butter for cooking

Method

• 1. Into a large bowl place the flour, salt, sugar, lemon zest, eggs, vanilla and milk. 
• Whisk until well combined and lump free. 
• Let it rest for 10 mins.
• 2. Heat a small pan to a medium heat, brush with a little butter. 
• Pour in 1/4 cup mixture, rolling the pan around to get an even cover. 
• Cook until the pancake starts to bubble, then flip and cook for a further 2 mins. 
• Stack the pancakes until needed.

Egg Drop Challenge

This week we have been doing a egg dropping project about keeping are egg safe by making a box to make are egg safer so it won't break. After a while of making are safe box for the egg we dropped it up upstairs and me and my friends egg didn't break.

Rover in Mars

Hi everyone, for today I will share about our lesson in Science.

What is a Rover?

A rover looks like a box in the middle and it looks like a spider with legs.

It is a device that explores places. Rovers can be used to collect rocks and soil samples. 

When is it launching? 

 Rover was launched on July 30, 2020 in an Air-force Station in Florida.

It will land Mars in February 18, 2021.

What size is the rover?

Rover is 10 feet long not including the arm, 9 feet wide and 7 feet tall.  It is also weigh 1,025 kilograms.

What are the features of Mars?
Mars is a red planet The red planet is dusty cold world with a thin atmosphere and is home to four NASA robots. Mars is the fourth planet from the sun 

Following Gold

 In Hurumanu I read a poem called Follow the Gold. I liked the poem and the way it was written.


The author is describing in his words and feelings, leaving his home country to try and make a fortune by finding gold.

He didn't know what was going to happen but wanted a better life with lots of money. He knew it would be probably be a hard life so he was being brave by risking a lot to follow the gold.  But he still wanted to look for gold, he had hope.

Healthy Lifestyle Getting enough Sleep

Today on Monday the august we have been working on healthy lifestyle about getting enough sleep for school. The teacher even gave us some questions of how much sleep we need.

1. How much sleep does a teenager need to get? -  10 - 9 hours 

2. What time do you wake up to get to school? -  6/7 am  - What time do you go to sleep on average?         9 pm   - Calculate the times, does this give you enough sleep? 10 hours that's the correct amount

3. Quality of sleep - showering, brushing your teeth, reading, Quiet activities.

4. So you can wake up to go to school, or when you grow up you can go to work so you don't have to be late or get fired. You do better at school by learning.

today in science we have been doing science about mars. we have been learning what you need to know about being a martian or an astronaut.

1. any mission to mars or from mars can only be 26 mouths.

2. Two geological features are mars was known as the red planet because of its colour. The colour is caused by large amounts iron oxide. Other features include polar ice caps olympus mons.

3. breathing this would mean certain death because the carbon dioxide would replace the oxygen in your red blood cells

4. by drilling deep holes in the ground and melting the ice.


5.  to get food on mars you have grow crops without soil.

Arts Kete

Last week we did are own comics In arts kete. My comic was about ally the cat/Netflix based on a movie but I changed it up a bit with a little bit of help from teacher helper :) I even changed the name of it. But I didn't get to finish all of it because i was to busy detailing it. Even the teacher gave me some ideas & draw-ed some plans down on the paper of what should come next and first. 

The story starts off with a girl named ally who had short brown hair and her eyes where blue like the sky. She was walking with her friend may ( I didn't get time to do may on my comic ) so as they where walking they saw a cat come out of a gifted shop with a tiny present in his mouth and on top of the present there was a yellow ribbon. Then the cat walked pasted ally & may and walked on to the road when the lights where green

Today my class has been working on Art, and learning about the traditions of Samoan Tapa cloth. Everyone in T1 made an example of Tapa cloth out of thick paper.  Firstly we drew what we choose from a Samoan story that the teacher read to us, on to a piece of paper using wax crayons. Then I painted brown dye over the top of my drawing. When it was dry I took a photo of my work and now you can see it on my blog.

 Hi today we have been doing questions on the short story called Olly's New Bike written by Melissa Leighton.

In our class this week, we have been doing tapa cloth work art. We learned how to use symblols and designs to create tapa cloth. In my work, I have decided to design a flower, water flowing, eel, sunshine, hills and a canoe to express my love for traditional tapa.

How to make a Umu

Today the 27th of May 2020, we have been watching a video about how to make Umu from Samoa.

A Umu is where the Samoan people cook their food.

It needs dry coconut and banana leaves, rocks. dry wood sticks, taros, and taro leaves.

The Samoan skills are when you have to always be patient, have ears on, watch and learn.

Yes I have experienced the same cooking process in Maori culture in NZ. Their name for umu is called hangi. Samoan people cook taros, bananas, luau, pig and chickens in their umu. I couldn't have done it without Wilma's help :).

Today the 26th of May 2020, we talked about haiku poetry and Ms Birtch instructed us to write a poetry of my own.  So therefore I have decided to write about foxes because I really love foxes.

Chris Hadfield

This week we got to watch Chris Hatfield do an experiment about a wet towel. He put some water on it and held the towel. He squeezed it and it went on his hands. The water got stuck on his hands so he had to wipe it with the towel.

The book of the road

This task is called the book of the road and our buddy class is called st peters. Also we went on google maps to look up same clues to help us out. Empathy is like understand feelings for one and another and to help each other out we also have the ability to share.
